Polar Bears

Today I’m going to tell you about the life of Polar Bears: what they look like, where they live, how they behave, and what they eat.

Now I’m going to tell you about their appearance. Polar Bears have padded feet so that they won’t slip on the ice. They also have long noses so that they could smell prey from a mile away. Did you know polar bears are the largest bears in the world? The males called boars, weigh more than 800 kg., and the females called sows weigh 250 kg.

Next were going to learn about where polar bears live. Polar bears live in the Arctic because their favorite food seals live there. I found it interesting that Polar bears move to different ranges according to the seasons. Polar Bears live in three different ranges the normal range, the occasional range, and the permanent range and its called permanent because it has permanent ice. Polar Bears go to the normal range throughout the seasons but for the summer, and the spring they have to go to the permanent range so the ice won’t melt, and during the winter they would go to the occasional range. Polar bears ride on big glaciers to get from one place to another. For example they ride to their different ranges. They also live in the Artic because their favorite food seals live their. Next I will tell you how Polar Bears behave.

Sows are very protective around their babies because they don’t want any enemies hurting them. Polar Bears use their good sense of smell to find their prey, and food. Also when cubs are born they keep their eyes closed for 40 days, because their not used to seeing their home land and until they get used to the breeze in their eyes they won’t open them.

Last I will tell you about the food it eats. A Polar Bears favorite food is seals. Sows feed young beluga whales to their cubs. Polar Bears also eat white whales and walruses but they are not their favorites. Polar Bears also eat bearded and ringed seals as like a desert. Now you have an idea of how Polar Bears live their life and that it depends on their appearance, Habitat, Behavior, and food. Now you could probably agree with me that Polar Bears are an interesting animal.
