Starfish

Starfish are star shaped animals that live underwater. Starfish have many colors on their bodies. Even though they have all these beautiful colors, they only get to show them off for a year because they only live for 1 year!
Sea stars look very odd. Some starfish are very big to catch prey. Their mouth is in the middle of their body. They have an eyespot at the tip of each tentacle which is sensitive to light. These tentacles have suction cups to hold its prey. Star fish have thin, spiny, smooth, and knobby skin, and 5 to 50 arms. Starfish grow from 1centimeter to 1 meter in length.
Starfish live in salt water in the coral reefs from the Artic Ocean to tropical oceans. Starfish live underwater. They live in both warm and cold water. They make their homes in sandy areas, close to shore, or in mud on the ocean bottom. This echinoderm eats other sea creatures and catch prey underwater such as clams and oysters. They don’t catch food out of water because they don’t live there.
The behavior of a starfish is calm, slow and steady and not threatening to humans. However, they are a serious threat and even pests to clams and oysters because they are their favorite food. Some can camouflage themselves to catch prey or trick its foe. This confuses their prey. With their tentacles, the starfish consume their prey. A starfish is an animal that is star shaped, and lives underwater at the bottom of the ocean.
In conclusion, starfish can be microscopic or as large as 1 meter. It makes its home in water in the coral reefs or near shores. This echinoderm’s behavior is harmless to people, so don’t be afraid of this unique creature which lies on rocks. It is really cool to see the Starfish lying in the water which being at the beach, but I am glad I am not another sea creature.
