Tigers are a member of the cat family. They are carnivores, which means they are meat eaters. They are mammals and they are predatory. Jaguars are cats and leopards are called big cats. The cat family also includes the clouded leopards and the cheetah. As a family, cats have short faces and small, broad skulls. Tigers hunt alone, using the protective covering of trees or tall grass to slowly sneak up on their prey. When tigers are 30 feet away from their prey then they sprint the rest of the way.
