One day Spot and his sister were eating fish, mollusks, and a variety of plants. Then Spot heard a sound and asked who could be way out here in the Gulf of Mexico. Then he thought about what his mom had told him about people trying to get them for their shells. Spot swam behind a rock so the man would not see him. But Crystal went right up to see what was wrong. She didn’t see the net and she got caught. Spot heard her scream and he swam up as fast as he could. Crystal tried to bite through the net but when she finished she was already on the boat. Spot sadly watched the boat go away. Then an idea hit him like a ton of bricks. He popped his head up and spotted a sea gull. He was white with a yellow beak and a long tail. Spot asked the bird if he could see were the boat was going with his sister.

About an hour later the bird came back he looked tired and worn out. He said that the boat was heading for the zoo. Then the sea gull saw another boat that read, Wildlife Zoo Preserve. Spot swam as fast as he could because the boat had stopped. Spot got as close as he could so he could get caught. It was part of his plan to get Crystal back. All of a sudden the net dropped down he was startled for a minute but his plan was working. Just then he thought about what it would be like to be in the zoo.

At the zoo Spot was put with his sister in the same cage. Spot was happy to see his sister again.

The next day this man came to the zoo he was tall with a big black beard and black suit. He was from Russia and had a big accent. He told the manager of the zoo that he could not keep these animals in captivity. He paid the man a lot of money to let all the turtles go. He did let all the turtle go. Spot, Crystal, and all the other turtles were sent out to the ocean. The man was awful nice.
