Dear Mom & Brandon,

Brazil is great! There are so many cool things to do here. I hope you like it as much as I do, even though Brazil is very different than home. It's been really fun learning about their culture and language, once I understood it. For once, I actually like the food here. I know if I like it, you'll like it. Also the beaches are wonderful. The water is always warm, but if I were you I would bring Suntan lotion. There are many things about Brazil that I will talk about in the rest of my letter.

There are many types of food here, for example tacos, burritos, and lots of fruit. They also eat some of the food that we eat like meat, corn and rice.

Brazil has different ways of greeting people. Mom you would like this. Some people hug each other, some women kiss each other on alternating cheeks. I've seen that before from my best friend. Brazil has the coolest way of greeting people.

Brazilians are very passionate about sports. I know Brandon would like all the sports here. The national sport is soccer and they have one of the finest teams in the world. Maybe when you come down we can go to a game. There are more sports than just soccer, for example basketball and volleyball, which are great sports too. Mom, you and I could go down to the beautiful beaches, or Brandon and I could go fishing or swimming. These are the things I've been doing for a while.

You will love Brazil's holidays, since I know I do so far. Brazil has large parties, especially on New Year's Eve. Also people dress in white and blue to honor Iemanja and to get energy for the next year. One thing that mom would like are the street paradises.

Brazil has the most beautiful land I have ever seen. Brazil borders every country in the U.S. except Chile and Ecuador. Brazil is the 5th largest country and 6th most populace. It has over 3,000,000 people. If you like a lot of space you'll love Brazil.

If you like hot weather, you'll love it here. Brazil is mostly tropical but is very temperate in the south. The average temperature range in Belem, which is at the top of the Amazon River, is from 72° F to 88° F all year round. In other words, it's really beautiful and very hot.

Mom, I think this is a great place to live. I know you will like Brazil as much as I do. There are so many things we can do together that we can't do at home. I miss you so much and can't wait to see you.

Love,
Alison
