Dear Mom & Dad,

Peru is really cool. What friendly neighbors! They're so nice. Mom, since a majority of the people are mestizos and speak Spanish you shouldn't have a problem talking to them with the similarities of Spanish & Italian. Lucky for me, soccer is Peru's official sport! Now, where are my cleats? Samantha, Get ready for partying all night in fiestas. Also, Navy Day & Independence Day can light up the night! Dad, you'll have to change your diet because their diet consists of rice, beans, fish, & soups. Looks like Peru isn't going to have any neighborhood rivalry. I've gotten five welcome greetings from all of the people on the block.

Hello Ph.D. of chemistry! Mom & Dad don’t worry about Samantha & me being undereducated. Peru has a very high education rank. Hum, which of the 45 institutions of Peru should I go to? I'm stuck between the National University of San Marcos and the University of Central Peru. Better start studying, only 7 more years left until college!

Peru has a very rich history. Here's what I just found out. Mom, since you like history so much, you'll be interested to know that the Incas once controlled Peru. Their two main cities were Macchu Picchu & Cuzco, and Macchu Picchu was made of stone! Samantha, since you'll be learning about Latin America at one time or another a fisherman told me Peru was conquered by Pizarro and freed in 1823. Now, that’s a lot of history. Hey Mom, you up for a job as a history teacher?

Peru has a powerful republican government and a very diversified economy. Dad, with a presidential election every five years (President Alberto Fujimori starting his third term) you'll have no problem remembering who's the president. Mom, I just got some of Peru's currency, its called Nuevo Sol. Looks like I have another currency to add to my coin collection! I just found out that Peru's economy is based on agriculture, mining and fishing. Speaking of fishing, where's my fishing pole?

Looks like Peru isn't a country that will have a great depression because if one crop fails they always have a backup!

Peru is so cool. It's a steady year round temp of 65F. For this weather shorts & T-shirts can be worn. Samantha you'll love this weather because you can frolic all around without working up a sweat. Other than El Nino & La Nina Peru doesn’t usually get major storm warnings. Wow, I'm hooked already, This is great weather!

That had to be the biggest fish I've ever seen! Samantha, even though the wildlife in Peru has bright colors, keep away because they could be poisonous! Mom, don’t be scared of the anacondas. Just remember they won't disturb you if you don’t disturb them. Sorry Dad, but it looks like our bait will only catch us lethal piranhas in the Manu River! Amazing. The wildlife here is very different from the U.S.

Can't wait until you come,
Eric
