Dear Mom and Dad,

tropcsun.gif (3880 bytes)The weather is great down here in Santiago. Dad, there is golfing down here so bring clubs. It barely rains here. You should bring the clothes you wear in America because the temperatures are about the same. I think we should live in Santiago, which is the capital, it is in the center of Chile. The winter is from June-September, and the temperature is in the 40’s-50’s. The summer is from December-March, and the temperature is in the 70’s-80’s.

Mom, you will love this, the public schools have uniforms! Most people in Chile don’t go to college, but I will. The people in Chile are very formal and polite. You will have to learn Spanish because that is the main language. The religion is Catholic.

I hope you like seafood! In Chile they eat a lot of seafood, but they also eat meat. Chileans also eat fruits and vegetables, and potatoes at every meal

Hey, Mom we can go skiing and take a hike in the Andes Mountains. Maybe we can even go on a camping trip or ride bikes. How about a nice relaxing day at the beach? On the west coast.

As you know I have been staying with Sandra. She has introduced me to some of her relatives. She has also showed me some things that would help us in Chile like some very polite sayings and a store were the materials are cheaper than the other stores. We went looking for a house we found one just like the one were we lived. It had the same amount of bedrooms and bathrooms. Don’t forget to trade your money for pesos. 480 pesos=1 dollar check your money so you don’t get ripped off by the bank

Love,
Your Son, Peter

P.S. Sandra said she would introduce us to some people and show us around, so we feel more comfortable in Chile
