Dear Mom and Dad,

Mom, guess what? I forgot my pocket translator and I don't know how to speak Spanish! But don't worry, they speak lots of different languages like English (but only a little bit), Pauta, Bribri, and a little bit of a native language.

Hey Dad, how about those Yankees and Mets? Although Costa Ricans play soccer every day, they also play lots of baseball and are big fans of the Yankees. They also play tennis, basketball, volleyball, surfing, watch auto racing and swim. Dad, you should come down here once in a while. It is a sportsman’s heaven. Everybody goes fishing and it is very popular because Costa Rica has a lot of water. Dad, for Grandpa, there is a lot of people playing golf and polo. There are also carnivals, bullfights and lots of parties to go to.

You guys won't need your heavy coats, boots or hats. In Costa Rica, it can reach up to about 89° F in the summer and 69° F in the winter. You should bring tank tops, sunglasses, sandals and bathing suits.

There are many kind forests, volcanoes, mountain and grasslands. Some mountain ranges in Costa Rica are Cordillera de Talamanca, Cordillera Central and Cordillera de Guanacste. You might want to bring your bikes because there are rugged mountains and coastal plains to ride on.

Don't worry Mom, there are a lot of ways to get here. There are runways for planes to land. When you're on the mainland there are buses, taxies, and cars so you are able to get around. You will only need a car when you are driving through San Jose. There is one highway named the Linte-America Highway. The population in Costa Rica is 3.3 million. Almost 50% of Costa Rica are 20 years old and younger. 87% of Costa Rican people have a European heritage. So most people will be very dark.

There is one thing that you have to worry about. There are many health problems. People live to about 75 to 79 years old (if you do you are very lucky). There are a couple diseases that affect your internal organs. One of them is Dengue Fever (you can get it from bugs). This is very hazardous to people and really affects the way you live by throwing up constantly to getting major headaches. You really can't prevent it but, stay away from the forests.

PS. Please Come Soon

Your Loving Son,
Ryan
