In 1493, Christopher Columbus explored Puerto Rico on his second voyage to the New World. In 1509, Juan Ponce de Leon claimed the island for Spain.
Puerto Rico has beautiful, sandy beaches with palm trees. The middle of Puerto Rico is covered by many rain forests. Vast mountains run from east to west across Puerto Rico. The biggest mountain, Cerro de Punta reaches 4,400 feet!
Puerto Rico is a territory of the United States. That is why Puerto Rico has the same currency as the United States. Puerto Rico is a great place. I would come here any chance I get.
