Mr. Jay Scotto-Friedman
Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Support Services
Pocantico Hills Central School District provides a unique learning environment for children in grades Pre K through eighth grade. The students that attend Pocantico Hills are very fortunate because of the resources that the community and school district make available to them. Students have the opportunity to visit Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture on a weekly basis. Stone Barns is a non-profit farm and educational center where our students can experience a unique "hands on" learning environment located across the street from the school building.
Our Board of Education continually strives to improve the educational programs within the school district. We recently invested in a multi-year plan involving new technologies to enhance these educational programs.
The expertise of the Board of Education, teachers, support staff and administrators, as well as the personal involvement of the parents and community members in the daily lives of our students provides a nurturing atmosphere promoting a superior learning environment. This environment is augmented by low class sizes which ultimately produces excellent scores. Students are able to interact with each other and staff members on a level that is different than other school systems.
The district also provides an outdoor Olympic-size swimming pool for use by the students and the community. During the later months of the school year use of the pool is integrated into the physical education program. The pool is also used extensively during the summer months by the community and by the students who attend the six week summer camp program offered by the district.
As a member of the Pocantico Hills School District Leadership Team, I support the needs of our students, maintaining and enhancing the educational environment for the benefit of the students and the community.
