Louis Braille was born in Coupvmy in France. When Louis was 3 years old he became blind because he played with one of his father's tools and it went in his eye. His eye became infected and so did the other eye and he became blind. He went to school after he was tutored by Father Palluy. When he was about 23, he became a teacher. Then he made the alphabet for the blind in raised letter. One day Louis was very sick and was going to die. He died on Jan. 6, 1852.
