    Johnny "Appleseed" Chapman was born on September 26, 1774. When Johnny was a little boy he loved the outdoors and to take long walks in the woods. One day Johnny came back from one of his long walks, he sat under a tree to rest. He pulled an apple out of his sack and ate it. When he was finished, Johnny looked at what he had left. He saw five seeds and he planted them. Johnny lived on the frontier in Massachusetts and every day pioneers traveled further west. One day Johnny went too. But he didn't go by covered wagon. He went on barefoot. Johnny ate and slept outdoors with animals. Johnny planted apple trees everywhere. Johnny "Appleseed" Chapman died in March of 1845.
