Garrett Morgan was born on March 4, 1877 in Paris, Kentucky. Even when he was little he spent most of his time thinking. When Garrett was 14, he left his family and moved to Ohio. In Ohio, Garrett's ideas grew and grew. He opened up a repair shop. Then he invented a gas mask for firefighters. He also realized a gas mask for firefighters. He also realized that people got into a lot of car accidents. So Garrett decided to invent a traffic light. Garrett Morgan died on August 27, 1963 but no one forgot his wonderful inventions.
