Curling
Curling is a very interesting Olympic sport. It started in Scotland. Curling
is made of four players. The lead, second, third, and skip. The lead’s first two
shots determine the skill of the team (offense or defense). The second has to
shoot a stone according to the skill of the team. The third is to set up the ice
rink so the skip gets easy shots. The skip directs the shots.
You have to take a broom and sweep pebbles in front of the stone to move it. The object of the game is to throw a stone close to the target of your opponent.
A set of 16 stones cost $12,000 because it is made of blue hone that is very rare. One stone costs $1,500.
In the women’s Olympics, Great Britain won the Gold Medal, Switzerland won the Silver, and Canada won the Bronze at Torino 2006. In the men’s Olympics, Canada won the Gold Medal, Finland Won the Silver, and USA won the bronze at Torino 2006.
