The year 1905 was one of the most exciting years in the 19^th Century. The country was bustling with activities from building famous buildings, huge oil finds, creating famous medicine (Novocain). A lot at#1 Wall Street, New York, is sold for $717,430 - a record price for real estate. Also, in 1905 Einstein came up with the Special Theory of Relativity, and the photoelectric affect, (which introduces light). Stanley Steamer set a record of 127 miles an hour and an eleven-year-old named Frank Epperson created the ever-loved Popsicle.

• March 4 Theodore Roosevelt is the first President to give an Inaugural Address.
• Ty Cobb signs July with the Detroit Tigers to begin an extraordinary baseball career. Sports journalist Grantland Rice has nicknamed outfielder Tyrus Raymond Cobb, 18, "the Georgia Peach."
• The NY Giants beat October the Philadelphia Athletics 4-1 in the 1905 World Series.
• The play "Peter Pan" opens in New York written by James Barrie, who also wrote the book.
• The first Spiegel mail-order catalog offers furniture at terms as low as 75¢ down and 50¢ per month. Started just before the Civil War, the Chicago furniture store will give up its retail store and broaden its catalog offerings to include apparel and general merchandise.
• U.S. auto production  25,000, up from 2,500 in 1905.
• Stanley Steamer sets a speed record of 127 miles per hour.
• The Cullinan Diamond is discovered in South Africa weighs 3,100 carats. It is cut into 105 diamonds. One was the Star of Africa.
• Albert Einstein, 26, publishes a paper on the Theory of Relativity. Einstein introduces the equation E = m.c².
• Iodine compounds proved to be useful in treating the swelling of the thyroid gland. Cleveland physician David Marine, age 25, has moved west from Baltimore and been shocked by the fact that every dog and many of the people were suffering from the swelling in their thyroid gland. He began a campaign for the ionization of table salt.
• Royal Crown Cola was founded.
• The Popsicle invented by eleven-year-old Frank Epperson is introduced.
• Einstein came up with the explanation of Photo Electric Effect, introducing light quanta (E = hv).
• In 1905, Henryk Sienkiewicz won the Noble Peace Prize for literature for outstanding merits as an epic writer.
• Milton Hershey founded Hershey chocolate in 1905.
• Mary Anderson patents the windshield wiper.
• 3,000 people were stricken and 400 died from a yellow fever outbreak in New Orleans, traced to mosquitoes.
• The Wright Brothers flew 25 miles in 38 minutes.
