1910 was the beginning of a new decade. It is time of great change. The United States has 1,000 miles of concrete road, up from 144 in 1900. Eight out of ten African Americans still live in the 11 states of the Old Confederacy, but that will change with a "great migration" that will see 2 million blacks move North. Seventy percent of U.S. bread is baked at home, down from 80 percent in 1890. Women in Washington State gain the right to vote in a constitutional amendment adopted November 8. The Tango is the new dance craze.
  • On February 8 The Boy Scouts of America is founded.
  • Father's Day first celebrated on June 19 in Spokane, Washington.
  • Women's Wear Daily begins publication at New York July 13
  • Penn Station opens in September.
  • Aunt Jemima pancake flour is invented and sold.
  • The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett is published. Read The Secret Garden here.
  • A book called Rewards and Fairies by Rudyard Kipling is published.
  • Henri Matisse shows Blue Nude, The Dance and The Music.
  • Glacier National Park in Montana is created.
  • Songs  such as "Come Josephine, in My Flying Machine" and "Some of These Days" were also very much enjoyed during this time.
  • The Fuller Brush Co. is incorporated
  • Kent State University is founded at Kent, Ohio. Bowling Green State University is founded at Bowling Green, Ohio.
  • The Camp Fire Girls of America is founded.
  • Joyce Clyde Hall and his brother start Hallmark Cards in Kansas City.
  • Halley's Comet reappeared.
  • Fanny Brice joined the Ziegfeld Follies
