There are many places to visit in China. The second largest city
in China is Beijing. It is also the capital. More than 15 million
people live in the city.
Also, in Beijing there is the Beijing zoo. It was once known as
the garden of 10,000 animals. It has pandas, cranes, deer, giraffes,
rhinos, monkeys, antelopes, oxes, and elephants.
In addition to the zoo, there is the Forbidden City in Beijing.
The Forbidden City was home to 24 emperors. It is the world’s
largest palace complex with 980 buildings and 8,707 rooms.
Also in China, there’s Tibet. Tibet is in the southwest part of
China. It covers an area of around 500,000 square miles! Most
Tibetans are farmers or nomadic herders. Tibet has a Buddhist Leader
and head of state named Dalai Lama. After China claimed Tibet, Dalai
Lama was exiled. Dalai Lama now lives in India. In Tibet, they have
a gold-roofed palace named Patala. It was Dalai Lama’s home when he
was still in Tibet.
In addition to Beijing and Tibet, the Great Wall of China is a
great place to visit. It is over 200,000 years old and goes over
deserts, grasslands, mountains, and plateaus. The Great Wall is
4,163 miles long and stretches from east to west of China. That’s
longer than the distance between the east and west coast of the
U.S.A.!
China is an exciting place to go visit. Each sight has something
special about it. Beijing is known for it’s history. Tibet has a
really pretty gold-roofed palace. And the Great Wall has amazing
views.
