Jon was sitting on his couch reading The Cat in the Hat. He was trying to relax from a stressful day at work the tan couch was soft and comfortable The couch always made Jon sleepy. On the white walls were pictures of family. Under the pictures was a table with a lamp on it. The air was filled with the smell of left over Chinese food cooking on the stove. Jon got up to eat. Suddenly, the door bell rang. Jon looked out the window but no one was there. He started to go to the kitchen when he thought he felt something under his feet. He looked around and thought, "It's just nothing." When Jon was done eating, he went to the living room to watch TV. Without warning, he felt something hit his feet again. He looked all over but didn't see anything. He started to shake. He know that something was in the carpet. He didn't see it coming! The mysterious bump under the carpet tripped him and it ran under the door.
Two weeks passed and it happened again. John was watching TV when he saw the strange bump again. He ran to get a chair. He picked up the chair and tried to hit it and the arm of the chair broke as he was trying to hit it. Jon saw the bump going to the end of the carpet and it came out! It was a rat! Jon set out rat traps. Within an hour, he caught the furry creature in one of the rat traps. He put on gloves and threw it in the trash can outside. Jon was relieved that it was gone. He hoped a rat would never come in his house again.
