Philadelphia, PA February 3, 1787 Dear Members of Congress,
Since each state is printing their own money, things have become really confusing. For example, when you go to different states you have to use the currency of that state. This does not make business easy .We should fix this by creating a new law which states that the whole country prints the same money. Secondly, Congress can not carry out or interpret laws. To fix this we should create two new branches of government. The first branch should be used to carry out laws. And the second branch should be to interpret the laws. Congress is also having trouble collecting taxes from the states. Because of this, they cannot pay our soldiers for all their hard work in the war or the other countries that help them win the Revolutionary War. To help fix this problem, we should force all the people to pay taxes. If they do not pay the taxes, there will be consequences. We need to change this for the future generation. We need a stronger government. If we do not change the Articles of Confederation, the states will become there own country. The other countries will not respect us. If we do make the changes the states will unite together as one country. I hope you take my letter seriously. Sincerely,

I, George Washington, believe that the Articles of Confederation are
not successful in our country. The states are taking over and have the
power. This is causing a lot of problems. I believe there are three main
problems with the Articles. States are printing their own money which is
really confusing, Congress can’t carry out or interpret laws, and
Congress is having trouble collecting taxes which means they cannot pay
their debt to France and their soldiers. We need to fix this problem by
amending the Articles of Confederation if we want to build a strong
nation. I recommend we make changes.
