There will be a Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at 7:30 pm in the Board Room. It is anticipated that there will be an Executive Session at 7:00 pm to discuss the employment history of a particular individual. The New York State Education Department is requiring that school districts develop an AIS policy for the 2016/2017 school year. This policy must include a second measure and must be uniformly applied to all grade levels. Please see attached for more details.
This office provides the supports necessary so that all children can flourish academically, socially and emotionally. We are tasked with creating and maintaining programs and services for all students, no matter where they fall on the learning continuum. You will find information about our programs for students with disabilities, Section 504 accommodations as well as academic intervention services and the Response to Intervention (RTI) Process. Students Support Services also encompasses nursing services, school registration, the guidance department as well as the office of the school psychologist.

It is with great pleasure that I fulfill the role of Director of Student Support Services for the Pocantico Hills School District. I have spent the last two years as the special education consultant. As the special education consultant I chaired the committees on Pre-School special education and school age special education as well as the 504 committee. I worked closely with administration to develop programs and supports so that our identified students had the opportunity to learn in the least restrictive environment.
As the Director of Student Support Services I will continue to oversee Special Education and 504 accommodation plans. I will also oversee the Response to Intervention plan, Academic Intervention Services and programs for our gifted students. I will look closely at the K-8 continuum of learning with an eye toward ensuring all students have the supports necessary to grown and learn. Therefore, I will work directly with the principal to facilitate initiatives in Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment. I will lend my support to teachers in order to facilitate learning for all students. In addition, I will work closely with the principal in crafting professional development opportunities for faculty and staff to support the District’s new and ongoing initiatives as we continue to develop an inclusive learning environment with high expectations for all.
