Just Desert
by Linda

In a pitch black kitchen there was a lady. Her name was Mary. She was trying to cut a pumpkin for desert. The pumpkin was round and plump. It had a skinny stem and its color was reddish orange. As I gazed at the kitchen counter there was a dough roller and a plaid apron. When she went to go cut the pumpkin the knife would not go through. So she called her husband Scott who came in to the kitchen and said, "What's the matter?"
She said, "I can't cut this pumpkin." The knife won't go through. Scott tries and the same thing happens. He took a stronger and much sharper knife that he had bought at an antique store to cut through the pumpkin. He gave the knife to Mary. Mary said, "Wow, I've been cutting this knife all night, where did you get such a knife?"
So Scott said, "I got it at the antique store around the corner. The owner told me it had been on sale for years."
So Mary said, "Now I can make up pumpkin pie tonight for our company. The old knife grew duller as Mary moved it away and the pumpkin grew even darker and as Mary put it near the pumpkin. It grew even brighter.
Mary heard a knock at the door Mary said, "The Company's here." So they danced, they sang, and they ate. They ate corn, beans, hot dogs, and hamburgers, and they even danced to the Macarena. So when it was time for bed they went home and Mary and Scott said, "This was a great night."
