When John D. Rockefeller, Sr. was little he was very poor. So his family had to use their money wisely. One day when John was 8 he found some wild turkeys in the woods. So he went to tell his mom, Eliza. She told him to bring them home and sell them. One day when John was about 16 he went to look for a job. John was hired at Hewitt and Tuttle on September 26, 1855. Then a few years after working at Hewitt and Tuttle, he came up with his own business named Rockefeller and Clark. After a while of working at Rockefeller and Clark, John was getting interested in oil. Clark was a little nervous about buying an oil refinery. So John bought out Clark. But a man named Samuel Andrews joined John. The company was now named Rockefeller and Andrews. When John was 26 he married a girl named Laura Spelman. But not only was John a business man he also loved his kids named Elizabeth, Alice (she died at a young age), Alta, Edith and John D. Jr. After that a man named Henry M. Flagler joined Rockefeller and Andrews so they named it Standard Oil. John D. Rockefeller died on May 23, 1937.
