by Samantha

John D. Rockefeller was born in Richford, NY in 1839. John raised wild turkeys when he was 7 and sold them. That was his first experience selling something and giving something to the poor. John's family moved to Cleveland, Ohio and John got his first job in 1855. Whenever that day came around he always called it Job Day! John opened his first business in 1859 and he was 20 years old. John built his first oil refinery in 1863. John thought that it would be more interesting and more profitable. When John was twenty-four he was very successful in business and decided to get married to Laura Celestia Spelman. He formed the Standard Oil Company in 1870 and later he moved his business and his family to New York City. John gave lots of money to school and charities all over the world. John retired from Standard Oil in 1911. Laura died in 1915. John died 22 years later in 1937.
