Guardian Angels Character Education Program

In an effort to enhance our character education program at Pocantico Hills School, we have borrowed the ideals and real-life strategies of the world-renowned Guardian Angels and their Alliance for Education. We are excited to begin our own studentcentered chapter of the “Society of Guardian Angels.”

Personal responsibility and moral integrity are cornerstones of the Society of Guardian Angels. One of the fundamental principles of the Society is the use of peer intervention. Through intensive training, students learn to become “Ambassadors of Kindness” and learn to actively promote the use of making positive moral decisions on a consistent basis. This type of self-regulation and peer intervention is evident in the society’s motto, “Kids Sticking Up For Kids.”

Students in all six grades voted for and chose several peers to be the first applicants to the Society of Guardian Angels. After the successful completion of the application process and weeks of individual and group training, this special group of students will attend an Induction Ceremony, in the school auditorium. They will pledge themselves publicly to become the very best Ambassadors of Kindness they can be.
