Stone Barns Animals in the Fall

"Bwaaak, bwaaak," I heard as I raced toward the chickens’ pen at Stone Barns. I gazed at the pesky birds pecking at my feet. It was hard to ignore one of them squawking when the lady picked up its egg out of the chicken coop. I was surprised to hear the lady yell too. When I touched a tiny egg it felt like a warm, smooth, rock. I even felt a chick rip a blade of grass right out of my hand.
