I stared at the unusual scarecrow standing in the middle of the field. I gasped when I saw her waving at me. I was so surprised to see her moving. I noticed that the scarecrow was tall and thin like two cornstalks. I peered at the scarecrow's long straight black hair. Then I spotted a little red bird that was pecking on the sleeve of her shirt. I listened closely to the mice squeaking down at the ground next to her shiny brown shoes.
