Dear Templeton,

Our teacher (Mrs. Taverna) said we should write a letter to our favorite character in Charlotte's Web so I wrote to you. You're my favorite character because you're funny, rude and small almost like me! When I was reading this book I laughed a lot because I thought you were funny (and other characters were too). I thought it was funny when you ate the leftovers and when you came to the crate and you were all fat. That was kind when you went to the dump and brought back a scrap to save Wilbur. I hope you write back.

Dear Templeton,

You are my favorite character in the book Charlotte's Web because you helped Charlotte save Wilbur by getting magazine clippings. It was another great thing you did bringing down the egg sac to Wilbur to take back to the barn. What you did helped Charlotte's babies to be born at the farm. You were a very important character in the story because you helped save Wilbur's life.

Why do you like garbage? I do not like garbage. It was funny when you got all big and fat at the fair. Even though you were mean to Wilbur and Charlotte, I like that you always got magazine clippings for Charlotte's web. You helped save Wilbur's life. Templeton, I think you are crazy! You sometimes act like you know everything in the world. You are a cool rat.

Why are you so greedy? Why did you bite Wibur's tail? Well let's get into business. When you were at the county fair, why did you eat a lot? When you talk to the animals, try to talk nicer to them. Now it's just a suggestion Templeton. What I like about you is, sometimes you are nice to Charlotte and Wilbur. But most of all you are funny. I like the way you talk and go close to the pen so nobody sees you. You are my favorite character in Charlotte's Web.
