The Peddler
by Keira & Madelyn

"I'll give you my beaver skins for those musket balls." The peddlers were salesmen and tradesmen. The peddlers sold a lot of stuff that was over priced (but the settlers needed it and bought it anyway.) Peddlers traded things that settlers needed. Some things peddlers sold were musket balls, dishes, books, and candlesticks. They made pots, pans, pins, ribbons, bows, needles, combs and other small things like those. Later on, they started making tinware like dishes, candlesticks, and lanterns. Some raw materials they used were wood, iron, and tin.

Some tools they used were:

  • Axes - to cut wood
  • Rafts - to move goods from one pieces of land to another piece of land
  • Sack - to carry his goods
  • Trunk - to carry his goods

To be a peddler you had to be strong, know your way around, have a good imagination, be willing to work very hard, and be able to avoid attacks. Some peddlers later became importers when there were shops to buy goods.
