Last May I decided to drive to Texas in my
truck. I went there because it was my birthday. As I was entering El Paso I
saw a cattle farm. I got very thirsty so I stopped in San Antonio for some
ice tea. I visited the Alamo to see where about two hundred Texans held off
more than 5,000 Mexicans for almost two weeks when Texas was fighting for
their independence. I also saw the state bird, the Mockingbird, soaring high
in the sky. Texas has many oil wells. Did you know that President Bush is a
former oilman from Texas? He even owed the Texas Rangers for a little while!
Texas is the second largest state and it takes a long time to drive across
it. After spending time in Austin, the state capital, I really wanted to
visit Dallas. What a beautiful city with so many tall buildings! Texas was
great but now it is time to move on. I think I'll visit Louisiana!
