Pearl Bailey
Have
you ever cut your hair so short, it was embarrassing? Pearl
Bailey, an extremely good actress and singer did. But, she wasnt
embarrassed. When she was about 5 years old, Pearl Bailey was
given enough money from her mother, to go to the barbershop and
get a haircut. When she left, little Pearl had plenty of hair.
But when she came back, she was almost bald! This is only one of
the many fantastic things Pearl Bailey did. This woman has a
heart bigger than a football stadium! Pearl is an amazing singer and actress
who has been in movies such as: "Porgy and Bess",
"Carmen Jones", "That Certain Feeling",
"St. Louis Blues", "Variety Girl", and
"Isn't That Romantic." She has also received the
theater's highest honor, the Tony Award.
Along with her acting, Pearl also is committed to helping others in need. Whether it's AIDS, homeless people, or a benefit for children, Pearl is always seeing them through, in whatever way she can. To Pearl Bailey, people, no matter what race, creed or philosophy, are people. In addition to all of this, she is the United States Goodwill Ambassador to the United Nations, (and NEVER neglects her job). Just a while ago, Pearl spoke to the World Health Organization about the importance of world cooperation and concern about AIDS victims. She also works for child abuse prevention. So, from now on, when you see something signed, "All love, Pearl," you know that, A: Pearl Bailey signed it, and B: she means what she says.
