Carol Moseley Braun
Carol Moseley has
served her country as a United States Senator. Carol was born on August 16,
1947. Her father was a law enforcement officer, who spoke several languages and
was a musician. Her mother was a medical technician. Ms. Moseley Braun graduated
from Chicago public school. She graduated from the University of Illinois in
1968 and the University of Chicago School of Law in 1972. Carol joined the
United States Attorney's office in Chicago in 1973. She has taught law and
political science at Moris Brown College. People recognized her as a champion
for education, governmental reform, and civil rights. Carol Moseley made history
when she became a first black female senator in 1992. In 1998 Carol Moseley was
defeated in her race for re-election but she was nominated to be the USA
Ambassador to New Zealand. She has a son, Mathew; he is a computer engineer. She
received over 300 awards for achievements in the public interest.
