Ruth Bader
Ginsburg was nominated the President Clinton to be an Associate Justice of the
United States Supreme Court in June 1993. She is the second woman ever appointed
to the Supreme Court. She took the oath of office on August 10, 1993. Justice
Ginsburg had been a judge for many years and taught at Harvard University and
New York University Law Schools. She helped create the Women's Rights Project
for the American Civil Liberties Union. She has worked hard for legal rights for
women. Justice Ginsburg is married to Martin D. Ginsburg, a law professor at
Georgetown University. She has a daughter Jane Ginsburg who is a law professor
at Columbia Law School and a son James Ginsburg produces classical recordings.
