Sally K. Ride

ride3.gif (16054 bytes)Sally Ride was born on May 21, 1951 in Los Angeles, California. She went to Westlake High School. Sally was an A student. Sally liked tennis but she began to interest.

She had a mom, a dad and a sister. In 1978, five other women were accepted into NASA. In 1983, Sally rode a space ship called the Challenger. Sally K. Ride is still alive. She made a difference by going into space and proved women can handle the job. She was important because she was the first American woman in space. If she did not do what she had done America might not allow women in space. Today she works in a school teaching science.
