Dear Families,
It was great to see such a positive turnout at our Middle School Back-To-School Night on Wednesday – thank you to all who came out to the school. I know our teachers appreciated the opportunity to be able to connect with you and share exciting curricular details and expectations for the upcoming year. Our kitchen staff also served up some yummy samples from our lunch menu. Elementary school is up next!
Yesterday, our 7th and 8th graders and teachers spent the day at Sharpe Reservation with team-building activities and challenges that rely on trust, reliance on each other, and supporting each other as a group. Our goal is to leverage these experiences back at school to reinforce a positive and inclusive community culture and spirit. The students also took initiative to engage in a spirited week of activities and spirit days to frame this annual experience and branch across grade levels for activities.
We had a fantastic schoolwide "HAWKS Celebration" assembly this morning that brought everyone together in the gym to celebrate and showcase their Classroom Compacts, sing along with inspirational “theme songs” that each grade selected for themselves, and to get pumped up for an amazing year ahead! Grade level goals included everything from focusing on friendship to independence and highlighted traits of perseverance and thinking skills. In many grades, the student-chosen themes are directly connected to our Portrait of a Graduate traits and vocabulary, which is a fantastic reflection on the work the teachers and staff have been doing in and around the classrooms!
SWIM-IN-GYM ENDS
We have had a great run of our opening Swim-In-Gym schedule this year, but the weather and water temperatures are getting a bit chilly even by our standards! We will shift back to full "normal" PE classes next week, and you can save the towels and goggles for next June (but please remember sneakers on PE days).
AFTERSCHOOL ACTIVITIES – ONLINE REGISTRATION TUESDAY 7PM
Mark your calendar! We are busy finalizing our extensive fall after-school offerings and Mrs. Papa will be sending out detailed descriptions and a registration link via ParentSquare on Tuesday at 7:00PM. We do our best to get every child into first choices, but there are capacity limits and its first-come-first-serve, so please make sure to choose a second option when available, just in case.

Elementary Back to School Night (Grades JPK-4): Wednesday, September 23, 6:30PM
The evening starts in the auditorium at 6:30 and then moves at 7:00 to either classrooms for presentations or our sparkling cafeteria to chat with our related arts and support staff and enjoy some tasty offerings from the kitchen, depending on the grade level. We’ll see you at 6:30!
