Announcements

  • Dear Pocantico Families,

As we approach the final days of the school year and prepare for a stretch of higher temperatures next week, we want to share the proactive steps we are taking to ensure your children remain safe, comfortable, and ready to finish the year strong.

What We’re Doing to Stay Cool and Safe:

    Climate Control Measures:

We are fortunate that all classrooms have some manner of air conditioning.

    • Our HVAC systems will be running around the clock to maintain a cool environment.
    • Classrooms with standalone air conditioning units will be activated ahead of time and left on during the school day.
    • In rooms with internal HVAC systems, windows and shades will remain closed to help keep the temperature stable.

    Hydration Support:

    • Students are encouraged to bring their own water bottles. Many already do.
    • Additional cups and access to water fountains and coolers will be available throughout the building.
    • Staff will remind students to take frequent water breaks.

    Room Monitoring:

    • All classrooms are air-conditioned, but please know that we are monitoring temperatures closely and can relocate classes if necessary to ensure student comfort and safety. Any issues will be addressed promptly.

    Recess and Outdoor Activities:

    • Recess may be modified or held indoors depending on the daily heat index guidelines and air quality.
    • Final decisions will be made each morning to prioritize student well-being.

    Health and Wellness:

    • Nurse Juliette is on hand and ready to help.

We also recognize that for many students, school is not only a place of learning, but also a safe, cool, and welcoming environment—and that’s a reflection of our amazing school community.

With just a couple of days left, we’re proud of all the hard work and spirit our students and staff have shown. Thank you for your continued support in helping us finish the year strong, safe, and cool.

Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions.

    "Warm" regards 🙂,

    Rich
